This is the Ladakh trip most travellers picture — Leh to acclimatise and explore, the dunes and monasteries of Nubra Valley over Khardung La, and the famous Pangong Lake. It covers the three headline regions without rushing. We build in a rest day and a lower-altitude Leh day before crossing to Nubra, travel by private vehicle with a local driver-cum-guide, arrange all permits and carry oxygen as a precaution. Arrive Leh · Rest & Acclimatise
Arrive at Leh airport; our team transfers you to the hotel. Full rest to adjust to the altitude — no strenuous activity today. An easy evening stroll to Leh market if you're feeling settled; dinner and overnight in Leh. 💡 Pro Tip: Hydrate, skip alcohol on Day 1, and rest — a good first day sets up the whole trip.
Leh Sightseeing & Acclimatisation
Explore Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace, then the Hall of Fame war museum. Head out on the Sham side for Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, the quirky Magnetic Hill and the Indus–Zanskar Sangam. A relaxed day that keeps altitude gentle before tomorrow's big climb. Dinner and overnight in Leh. 🌟 Note: Today deliberately stays at manageable altitude — it's part of acclimatising well for Khardung La.
Leh → Nubra Valley via Khardung La
Drive up early to Khardung La (~18,380 ft) for photos and chai at the top. Descend into Nubra; visit Diskit Monastery and its towering Maitreya Buddha. Reach the Hunder dunes for a Bactrian camel ride at sunset. Dinner and overnight at a Nubra camp or guesthouse. 💡 Pro Tip: It's cold and windy up top — keep a jacket handy and don't linger too long at Khardung La's altitude.
Nubra → Pangong Lake
Drive from Nubra to Pangong along the dramatic Shyok river route. Reach the lake in the afternoon — time to walk the shore and watch the water change colour. Evening at leisure; the night sky over Pangong is spectacular. Dinner and overnight at a lakeside camp. 🌟 Note: Pangong nights (~14,000 ft) are freezing even in summer — camps give heavy quilts, but bring thermals.
Pangong → Leh via Chang La
Enjoy the early light at Pangong before starting back. Return towards Leh over Chang La, stopping at Thiksey and Shey monasteries. Arrive Leh by evening — free time for last-minute shopping. Dinner and overnight in Leh. 💡 Pro Tip: Pangong's colours are best just after sunrise — worth the early start before the long drive.
Depart Leh
After breakfast, transfer to Leh airport for your onward flight. Trip concludes with the high passes behind you and a full camera roll. 💡 Pro Tip: Leh flights leave early and can be weather-affected — keep onward connections loose.

- •Heavy winter thermals, jackets, and sturdy shoes are strongly recommended due to freezing temperatures at high passes and Pangong Lake.
- •Itinerary subject to change or rerouting in case of severe weather, landslides, or military road closures.
- •Any additional cost incurred due to unforeseen flight delays, weather disruptions, or road blockages will be borne directly by the traveler.
